We have all heard of the plight of the poor battery hen, but did you know that thousands of chicks are crushed to death by the poultry industry everyday? These birds are usually male and are deemed unfit for production, particularly egg production. Once they have been destroyed, through a high speed grinding machine, their remains are thrown into landfill. As it is possible to sex the eggs before they hatch this cruel practice could be removed from the industry!
